Dark circles always betray us by showing how little sleep we truly had, no matter how hard we try to mask them with concealer or distract with a bright lip color. There is a good probability that it is obvious on your face if you didn’t get enough rest last night. Some people attribute these bothersome under-eye shadows to genetics, but there are other issues that may also be to blame, including dehydration, salty foods, lengthy flights, stressful workdays, and even how long you sleep. Since darker skin produces more melanin than lighter skin, dark circles and other pigmentation appear more obvious and are more difficult to remove among Indian women than with Caucasian complexion.
While there isn’t a magic under eye remover we do have some MUA approved tips and tricks about hiding and removing dark circles on Indian skin:
- Making sure your skin is properly prepared before applying any concealer to your face is the most crucial step. Use a quality eye cream to prevent creases and help your concealer stay in place. It’s important to hydrate the under-eye area as well because sometimes heavy concealers can accentuate creases beneath the eyes and make them appear dry and cakey.
- Discoloration can make the under-eye area of your face appear darker than the rest of your face, even with foundation and concealer. A makeup technique called colour correction can be used to hide skin problems like pigmentation, dark undereye bags, acne, and redness. Indian skin needs colour correction more than any other skin type because the majority of us have cool- or warm-toned dark circles. Your dark circles are either greenish or purplish/blue in colour. The skin tone is neutralised by colour correction, which also hides undesirable tints. Using a brighter, orange-tinted corrector works for darker skin tones and a softer, pink-tinted corrector works better for people with lighter skin tones.
- Use a beauty sponge rather than a brush or her fingers to apply concealer. A damp makeup blender is ideal to blend the concealer in. The concealer should be carefully pressed into the face using rapid, brief dabbing motions to give a skin like finish.
- To set the concealer and stop it from creasing or splitting, dust the area with loose translucent powder. To apply the powder, use a puff instead of a brush. Using a brush doesn’t properly set the concealer’s creamy smoothness.
- Although skincare may make or break your look, makeup is the essential component. It is important to prep your skin in the right way to ensure smooth application of makeup. The ideal option is to use a hydrating eye cream that won’t make your under eyes look dry or cracked and will enable you to conceal it with the appropriate corrector and concealer.
- Once you’ve concealed the under eye bags successfully we suggest using any eyeshadow with a matte texture as anything too sparkling would only highlight the dark circles. Use satin finish eyeshadows and avoid anything too chunky, black, or glittering because people who have dark circles often have loose skin on their eyelids and such textures tend to look unnatural and cakey.
- Give some attention to your lashes and brows as well. Full brows and curled lashes help you since they distract and draw attention away from the problem aka those nasty dark circles.
