Makeup is gorgeous but unfortunately temporary, but the skin we are born with is something that will always stay with us therefore it’s important to take care of it and nourish it. A proper skincare routine ensures that your makeup applies easily, blends seamlessly into your skin, and lasts for a long time. Makeup ruins your skin, thus taking good care of it has several advantages. To ensure that your base makeup is immaculate, we have listed them all here.

Let’s start with the basics- It’s imperative to cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturise your skin well before starting with your makeup routine.

Cleansing your skin in the correct way is extremely important especially if you wear a lot of makeup on a regular basis. Because makeup has the potential to clog your pores and cause inflammation in your skin. Your skin could sustain long-term damage if these substances aren’t cleaned off properly and if the residue of these products isn’t removed by routine cleansing.

Exfoliation is a frequently overlooked step in skincare that is required for flawless foundation application. You must exfoliate frequently if you use retinol, peels, acne medication, or typically have dry skin. Removing flakiness and dead skin cells whether with a physical scrub or a chemical peel can help your makeup apply evenly and give a natural finish.

A toner or mist gets your skin ready to better absorb skincare. They hydrate and plump skin cells by quenching their dullness and dryness. So using a toner or a mist spray will help penetrate your products into the skin more deeply. Toners also help balance the pH level of your skin and give a healthy glow on top of which makeup glides smoothly.

Skin is prepared for makeup by using moisturiser to hydrate the skin and eliminate flakiness. A lot of people believe their skin is too greasy to need moisturising. That is untrue. Every skin type needs a different kind of moisturiser. Make sure to use a mattifying product if your skin is greasy. Use a hydrating if you have dry skin and use a soothing one if your skin is sensitive. Regardless of what you pick, never, ever skip moisturiser! As a result of chemicals found in makeup, the skin might become excessively dry or excessively oily. In addition to physically shielding skin from that, moisturisers also partially undo some of the potential harm that harsh, alcohol-infused makeup could cause.

Primers fill in and smoothen out pores to give a velvety finish to the skin. Primers serve as buffers between your skin and chemical-laden cosmetics, which have the potential to cause major skin irritation. They also help your makeup stay put for longer. Even if they don’t make your complexion look more even, the noticeable textural difference is still there. Skin is more even and texture appearance is reduced which allows makeup to apply smoothly without bumps or unevenness that would make the application appear cakey and unnatural.

Do not forget the eyes. Applying a cooling gel first, then an eye cream, is essential for a flawless base. Almost everyone covers their eyes. Dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines are almost universal. It can be made brighter and more refreshed by applying an eye cream or cooling treatment to the area. Additionally, this prevents concealers from settling into fine lines as much.

Your skin will thank you and your makeup will apply so much better if all these pre-makeup steps are carefully followed, with appropriate time given to each product to soak into the skin and do its job provided. Simply put, this is the key to looking flawless!
